The development of a VHF-radar in the Harz mountains (F.R.G.) for the study of the dynamics at tropospheric, stratospheric and mesospheric heights was motivated mainly by the question to what extent dynamic processes in the thermosphere and ionosphere are generated at lower atmospheric heights (SCUSY, 1974). Earlier work on thermospheric acoustic-gravity layes, in particular, indicated that part of the observed wave spectrum originates from tropospheric sources.es_ES
