Abstract
La Comisión Multisectorial ENFEN mantiene el estado de vigilancia de El Niño en vista de que persisten condiciones favorables para su desarrollo. Para el verano 2018-2019, las probabilidades del desarrollo de un evento El Niño en el Pacífico Oriental (Niño 1+2), que incluye la costa norte del Perú, alcanzan una probabilidad de 67 % de la ocurrencia de El Niño (58 % en la magnitud de El Niño débil, seguida de una magnitud neutra de 33 %). Para el Pacífico central se estima una probabilidad de 84 % de ocurrencia de El Niño (60 % en la magnitud de El Niño débil, seguida de El Niño moderado con 23 %). Asimismo, es más probable que ocurran lluvias entre normal y por encima de lo normal en la costa norte de Perú, más no extraordinarias como las de los años 1983, 1998 o 2017. Se espera que hasta enero el arribo de dos ondas Kelvin cálidas en el Pacífico ecuatorial oriental contribuya a mantener las anomalías positivas de la temperatura y nivel del mar en la costa norte de Perú.
